February is Pet Dental Month.
Did you know that by the age of 3 years most dogs and cats from dental / periodontal disease? Our pets need dental care too. Brushing your pets teeth several times per week can greatly help reduce the buildup of plaque on the teeth. Hill's Prescription Diet T/d is a food that is designed to help keep those teeth clean also. It has a special composition that allows it to work up and down the tooth like a toothbrush, rather than breaking up like regular biscuits.
If the tartar buildup becomes to thick, brushing and/or chewing T/d will not help remove the tarter. The thick buildup of tartar promotes bacterial growth that results in infection, loose and decaying teeth and pain for your pet. It also can damage the heart, lungs, kidneys and liver, shortening your pets life.
At this point a thorough dental cleaning is needed. Sometimes teeth have to be extracted. Many people notice that their middle aged pet will start acting young again after the source of pain is removed.
Advanced Veterinary Care Center is offering a 10% discount on all dental procedures performed during the month of February. Payment is expected at time of service in order to honor the advertised discount.
